I failed MongoDB Associate Java Developer Exam
It’s been almost 3 years since I got my AWS Certified Developer — Associate certification. I wasn’t really into certifications before, but 8 months ago, I signed up for the GitHub Student Developer Pack. It’s got a bunch of cool benefits, one of which was $50 in MongoDB Atlas Credits, plus access to MongoDB Compass and MongoDB University. And guess what? MongoDB University has free certifications that are worth a whopping $150!

MongoDB Associate Java Developer Exam
MongoDB has been around for 15 years and is getting more and more popular. It has a different way of working with databases compared to traditional Structured Query Language. So, the developers need to rethink how they work with databases. As part of their ongoing efforts, MongoDB organizes meetups, trainings, conferences, and other events to help developers learn more about the platform. One of their cool ways to do this is through certifications. MongoDB’s certifications are recognized by professional institutions and the tech community worldwide. They show that you’ve mastered MongoDB applications.

Initially, as part of preparing for the certification exam, I followed the MongoDB Java Developer Path provided by MongoDB University. I thoroughly went through each unit, which included video lectures, hands-on labs, and quizzes.
Then, I read the MongoDB Documentation, available at https://www.mongodb.com/docs/manual, to gain further insights into the topics covered in the learning path.
I also had the chance to attend the MongoDB.local event in my city, which was an awesome learning experience!
My associate developer certification exam outcome
Thank you for taking the Associate Developer Java Certification Exam. Unfortunately, you did not pass the exam. We recommend reviewing the exam guide if you plan to retake the exam.
Confidentiality and Fairness — Disclosing the cut score could potentially enable candidates to game the system by narrowly focusing on the exact passing score rather than genuinely mastering the material.
Psychometrics — Determining a fair and valid cut score is a complex process that involves psychometric analysis. Psychometricians take into account factors like question difficulty, candidate performance, and exam reliability to establish a passing score. These calculations may not lend themselves to a simple, easily communicable number.
